Glaze Variations

Glaze Variations

These are all acceptable variations of Bill's blue glaze.

It has a mind of its own and cannot be controlled. We hope you will understand and enjoy it anyway, light or dark, blue with white, mauve, brown, or green, even pink or yellow! Please don't expect perfectly matched plates, bowls, and mugs because it probably will not happen, sorry! Click for more information about Bill's blue pottery.

Glaze Variations

Above are some typical variations of Bill’s white crystalline glaze.

There is usually, but not always, different amounts of blue, green, or brown. The white may be very bright and dominate the piece, or the white may be just in small areas, or it may turn cream, mauve, or gray. The glaze works differently on plates and platters than it does on vertical surfaces like vases. The colors, proportions, placement, crystal sizes, and crystal patterns are decided by the glaze in the kiln and cannot be controlled. As with the blue glaze, you cannot expect consistency or matching pieces, sorry! Click for more information about Bill's crystalline pottery.
